Welcome To Southside!

Southside Senior Center caters to all seniors (50 and older) in the San Jose area. We provide a multitude of activities resulting in something for everyone. For example, we have card games, dancing, drama, ceramics, computer classes and computer availability, sewing, a variety of exercise classes, ping pong, horseshoes, etc., etc. Some activities have a fee while most are free or almost free.

Membership

Membership in Southside Senior Center is optional but encouraged as a financial help for the center. Membership is only $10.00 per calendar year. Membership forms are available in the administration building. Benefits for becoming a member include discounts on special activities and free access to our extensive video library which contains over one thousand titles, mainly on VHS tapes. The library also contains a variety of audio tapes.

Those choosing to not become a member are requested to become a participant by filling out a participant form to provide emergency contact information.

Memorial Day



Southside Senior Center will be closed Monday, May 28 for the Memorial Day Holiday.



May Special Events

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Southside
Friday, May 4, in nutrition we will have chips and salsa and the menu will be beef enchilada with cheese, Spanish rice, lettuce & tomatoes salad, an orange, and baked flan. We will have traditional music playing, for your enjoyment. Enjoy the Fiesta!

Mother’s Day Corsage Making
Wednesday, May 14
See Richard or Shirley for information on when volunteers will start making corsages for Mother’s Day celebration. They will supply all that is needed to make the corsages.

Memorial Day Celebration BBQ, Friday, May 25, on the patio
Sponsored by the Advisory Council The Tenor Dance Band, will play from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon, menu: hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, ice cream. Tickets will be available in nutrition on May 7, see Neomi. Volunteers needed! See Richard or Neomi for your assignment starting May 14.

Advisory Council

The Advisory Council holds their monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30. All seniors are invited and encouraged to attend.

Southside Boutique

Visit the Southside Boutique. It's open every day from 10:00 through 2:00.

It's a good source for gift shopping throughout the year.

Video Library

There is a video library in back of the boutique for Southide members to borrow videos for free. There are over one thousand videos available, most of which are on VHS tapes. There is also a variety of books on tape.

Southside Theater Group

Meets Wednesdays at 1:30p.m. in the MPR.

Anyone interested in participating in this group is welcomed. Not all members of SSTG act on stage. There are many tasks that you can assist us with behind the scenes.
